Instructional Centre wins top urban design award

The Instructional Centre at U of T Mississauga has won an Award of Excellence at the 30th annual Mississauga Urban Design Awards competition. The award was presented Nov. 22 at a ceremony at Mississauga City Hall.

The University of Toronto will be presented with a challenge on December 6 when it marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and Children: No one has to do everything... but everyone has to do something.

That is the mantra behind the Green Dot program, developed at the University of Kentucky by Dr. Dorothy J. Edwards and making its Canadian debut at U of T. Already the program has been implemented at 50 post-secondary institutions in 40 states.

Chemistry labs receive update, roomy quarters, leading edge equipment

In a race against time, a team of designers and construction experts had less than five months to completely renovate the chemistry undergraduate teaching labs -every mechanical, electrical and plumbing system, plus the instrumentation. Deserving of its own reality TV show, the newly renovated labs in the William G. Davis Building welcomed their first students in September. The state-of-the-art facilities have garnered rave reviews and promise to be a showpiece for recruiting new students.
